There was an article in this morning’s NY Times talking about the invasive Lanternfly. The moth, native to Asia, poses a threat to US agriculture. For the past several years Officials have been advising citizens to kill them whenever possible. Stomping is encouraged. I’m not promoting anything different. I do think the situation exemplifies one of the key questions humans have always faced when confronted with change. When does self-interest justify violence?
